Most Say They Are Happy with Medicare Plans

The survey polled a national sample of 756 Americans ages 65 and over about their use of and feelings about Medicare.

More than 83% of respondents in a new survey say they are satisfied with their Medicare coverage.

Approximately 31% of those surveyed said they had Medicare Advantage plans, with the balance saying they had original Medicare or other coverage. However, about one-quarter (26%) of respondents said they were only “somewhat familiar” with their plan’s coverage.

About 70% of respondents say they think their plan covers all of their medical essentials.

Other survey results include:
• Over half (56%) of respondents said they were concerned about the cost of their medical expenses.
• Over a quarter (27%) of respondents claimed that they have essential medical needs that are not covered by their plan.
• When it comes to what they wish their plans had better coverage of, 74% of respondents listed dental health services, 52% listed vision health services and 43% listed hearing health services.

The survey was conducted on May 24, 2022, among a national sample of 756 Americans ages 65 and over.
