The nation’s only college dedicated to educating Black men is creating six endowed professorships, including in the school’s business and economics division, thanks to an anonymous $20 million gift

Morehouse College received the contribution — the largest gift ever designated for faculty positions at the school — during a fundraising campaign. The professorships will be added to the Division of Business and Economics, the Division of Humanities, Social Sciences, Media, and the Art, and the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, including the Office of Health Professions.

Morehouse, which was founded 157 years ago and educates over 2,300 students per year, bills itself as the top feeder school for Black men entering top-ranked MBA programs and managerial and executive positions in business.

The $20 million donation was made anonymously to the Making Men of Consequence Campaign, a $500 million effort to expand Morehouse’s scholarship support to students, recruit top faculty, fund campus improvements and fund innovative academic programs. Morehouse employs more than 300 full-and-part-time faculty.

“Investing in Morehouse College’s talented faculty is critical to maintaining the college’s reputation and relevance as a world-class institution of higher learning,” says Provost Kendrick Brown in a news release.
