An Iowa firm with $1.4 billion in assets and a strong focus on providing retirement-plan services has joined Commonwealth Financial Network.

Strategic Financial Solutions, based in Cedar Rapids, also provides individual wealth management and comprehensive planning for clients near or in retirement. But it has specialized in providing advice on 401(k), defined benefit, nonqualified executive benefit and employee stock ownership plans, as well as other services, to corporations.

The firm left Principal Securities Inc. after many years to join Commonwealth. Strategic’s advisors include President Larry Witzel, CFP, CLU, AIF; Vice President of Retirement Services Bert McClintock, CFP, AIF; Executive Planning Professional Brian Brandt, CFP, AIF; and Financial Advisors Jeff Haugse, Jordan Kuehner, Steven Bragg, and David Spanier; as well as support staff.

“Commonwealth’s service-oriented culture feels in sync with ours. The breadth and depth of resources, from the technology enhancements and interface to the Commonwealth team being readily available to answer our questions, make this a good partnership,” Witzel said in a release.

Less than a week ago, Commonwealth announced another team with retirement expertise had joined the firm.

Privately held since 1979, Commonwealth is headquartered in Waltham, Mass., and San Diego, Calif. It has more than 2,000 independent financial advisors nationwide.
